The SC has directed Sahara group chief Subrata Roy to appear before it on February 28 for failing to deposit Rs 25,700 crore in the SEBI-Sahara case for returning investors' money.

A bench of CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justices A K Sikri and SK Kaul observed that the Sahara group has already deposited around Rs 20,000 crore in the SEBI-Sahara account which includes Rs 15,000 crore and Rs 4,800 crore interest and had failed to pay up the entire amount despite various opportunities given to it.

The Apex Court further declined to give any further chance to the group head and its directors and decided to issue summons against them to enable the law to take its own course and decided to proceed with the matter so that the law takes its own course and directed Roy and other directors to appear before it personally on next date of hearing.
