SupremeCourt Bench of Justices UU Lalit, S Ravindra Bhat and Sudhanshu Dhulia to shortly hear plea of TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee challenging ED summons issued to him and his wife in connection with a money-laundering case

Bench in the last hearing said no coercive action be taken in the interim

Counsel for the Enforcement Directorate had said they are apprehensive about interrogating Banerjee in the State capital given his influential status

ASG Raju appears for the ED: Several concerns are there. Officers being hounded, frivolous case against Times Now for voice samples. Law Minister was there when matter heard in court.

J Lalit: When you issue notice under PMLA, you're not having anything against that person.

J Lalit: Not putting the accused on slaughter. No evidence on record then, evidence may crystallise after interrogation, you can certainly do that under law.but when man is not strictly an accused can you urge him to appear in office?

Can't a midway be found?

Enforcement Directorate tells SC that TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee is a potential accused in West Bengal coal scam case and it needs to interrogate him in Delhi. It informs SC that it would be difficult to interrogate him in Kolkata.
