In a big win for the LGBTQ community, the Supreme Court today decriminalised Section 377. A five judge constitution bench, headed by CJI Dipak Misra, gave the verdict, thus bringing down an end to the 158-year-old colonial law that criminalised what it called “unnatural sex between two consenting homosexual adults.

Soon after the SC scrapped the archaic law, a wave of celebration erupted across the country.

Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra while delivering the verdict read out a quote by renowned German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche “I am what I am. So take me as I am.”
