The SC Collegium on Friday (i.e., September 7) passed resolutions recommending the transfer of three High Court judges.

The Collegium, made up of five senior most judges, including Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur, Kurian Joseph and AK Sikri, agreed to the request of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait to be transferred back to the Delhi High Court.

Appointed as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court in 2008, Justice Kait on April 2016 was transferred to the Hyderabad HC.

Further, Justice Kotiswar Singh appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court has been recommended for transfer to the Gauhati HC.

In a similar move, additional judge of the High Court of Gauhati, Justice Lanusungkum Jamir has been recommended for transfer to the Manipur HC.

The Collegium, however, rejected to reconsider the request of the Chhattisgarh HC’s Justice Pritinker Diwaker to be transferred to the Allahabad HC. The resolution states,

The Collegium does not find any merit in his representation and is, therefore, of the opinion that the request made by Mr. Justice Pritinker Diwaker cannot be acceded to. The Collegium accordingly resolves to reiterate its recommendation dated 10th January, 2018 for his transfer, in interest of better administration of justice, to the Allahabad High Court.”
