SC asks how are convicts heading political parties

New Delhi:While listening to PIL filed by  advocate and BJP leader Ashwani Kumar Upadhyay on barring convicted politician for life, the SC bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Mishra asked the Centre's counsel additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand on how a person convicted of corruption and criminal charges can continue to hold positions in political party.What was the centre doing about it?

The Centre govt counsel asked for time to spell out govt's stand.

In case the court accepts the plea,it will have implications for leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav and Om Prakash Chauthala.The final date of hearing on the matter is on March 26.
