Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas made the announcement during an emergency meeting in Ramallah to discuss Israel’s plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank.

He said that the decision included security agreements with Israel, including the ones set out in the 1993 Oslo Accords.

The Oslo Accords are a series of agreements designed to facilitate peace between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). Under the terms signed in the 1990s, Palestinians in parts of the West Bank and Gaza were granted self-governance, and the PLO gave recognition to Israel as a state.

“The Palestine Liberation Organization and the State of Palestine are absolved, as of today, of all the agreements and understandings with the American and Israeli governments and of all the obligations based on these understandings and agreements, including the security ones,” Mr. Abbas said.

Announcement by Mr. Abbas comes in response to plans by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to to annex parts of the occupied West Bank in a stance adopted by a new coalition government .The move will yield Israel from all sides of Palestinian territory.

Mr. Abbas said his termination of the agreements meant that Israel will now have to “shoulder all responsibilities and obligations in front of the international community as an occupying power.”

He also lashed out at the US, which took a tough line against the Palestinians under Donald Trump's administration, including returning the US embassy to Jerusalem.

“We hold the American administration fully responsible for the oppression befalling the Palestinian people and we consider it a primary partner with the Israeli occupation government in all its aggressive and unfair decisions and measures against our people.” Mr. Abbas said.
