A senior advocate of the Patna High Court was shot dead near his rented accommodation residence in Rajvanshinagar by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday morning.

The deceased lawyer, identified as Jitendra Kumar, was about to leave for the high court when the incident took place.

The police officials investigating the matter attributed the murder to a property dispute.

According to a TOI report, Shastrinagar SHO, Nehar Bhushan said that the deceased’s elder brother Raj Kumar has named nine persons in an FIR lodged in connecting with brother’s killing.

Advocate’s wife and in-laws are the named accused in the FIR,” Bhushan told the reporters.

Bhushan also said that Jitendra had a matrimonial dispute with his wife, and the couple was living separately since 2007.

The SHO further said that the lawyer’s brother suspected that he was killed due to a property dispute with his brother-in-law.
