Actor Preity Zinta’s 2014 molestation case against industrialist and former boyfriend Ness Wadia has been quashed by the Bombay High Court.

On Wednesday, both Zinta and Wadia accompanied by their lawyers appeared before a division bench comprising Justices Ranjit More and Bharti Dangre.

The hearing lasted only for about 15 minutes during which the lawyers of both the parties informed the bench that they had arrived at an amicable settlement and thus wanted the FIR to be quashed.

Zinta, in fact, also submitted an affidavit confirming her willingness regarding the FIR to be quashed.

On being asked about the matter, the industrialist’s lawyer, said, “The case against Ness has been quashed. We have been told by the court not to divulge anything more.”

Meanwhile, Preity Zinta in her tweet said:

“It feels good to move on. Put to rest and forgive. It’s amazing how one simple word can give closure. The windscreen is always larger than the rare view mirror.”

Case background:

The 43-year-old actress had lodged a police complaint in 2014, in the Marine Drive Police Station in Mumbai, alleging that she was molested by the industrialist at the Wankhede Stadium on May 30 during an IPL match played between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings.

Wadia had approached the Bombay HC this year seeking cancellation of the police case registered against him. He filed a petition in the High Court, claiming that the complaint was a result of “personal vengeance” and the incident was a “misunderstanding”.

The Division bench of the Bombay HC, at an earlier hearing, had suggested Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia to resolve the case mutually. While Preity’s lawyer told the court that the actress is ready to settle down the matter if Wadia is ready to apologise, industrialist’s lawyer reportedly said that his client would not apologise.
