The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday notified about implementing a more stringent vetting process for parties seeking to argue their own cases. The High Court has issued a notice regarding the same through the Registry.

According to the notice, an individual appearing in the court as a party-in-person will now have to file an application along with the proceedings for seeking such permission.

Further, applicants will also be required to file an undertaking stating that they will maintain decorum of the court and won’t use objectionable or unparliamentary language during the course of the hearing in the court.

The undertaking also requires the applicants to state that they know that a breach of the undertaking could result in the applicant being barred from representing self in a case for a period, as seen fit by the court.

On receiving an application, the registry will fix a date and time at which the litigant will have to appear before a “Committee of Officers” of the registry, who will assess their ability to represent themselves efficiently.
