Amid eviction drive, BSP chief Mayawati in compliance with the Supreme Court orders vacated an official bungalow in Lucknow, while retaining another government house which she converted into a memorial.

But according to sources, the government bungalow that Mayawati has given up was used mainly by her security, but the one she retains is a palatial 10-bedroom bungalow in the more elite part of Lucknow – the Mall Avenue. However, that is the government house that the UP government had asked Mayawati to vacate. And when estate department officers declined to accept the keys of another bungalow, allotted to her as an ex-CM, she sent the keys to the department through speed post.

Meanwhile, Mayawati's personal secretary Satish Misra in a press release said that she has evacuated 6, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg which was allotted to her as Uttar Pradesh’s former CM. “But, the state government had sent Ms Mayawati a notice to vacate another bungalow, 13A, Mall Avenue, which is a memorial to BSP founder Kashi Ram”, he added.

Misra said Mayawati uses only two rooms of the "Shri Kanshi Ram Ji Yadgar Vishram Sthal". However, she will vacate the memorial if a notice was served.
