The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today filed fresh petition in the Delhi HC, challenging the Election Commission’s (EC) order.

The move comes after the 20 disqualified AAP MLAs on Monday withdrew their earlier plea in the High Court, which challenged Election Commission’s (EC) recommendation of their disqualification.

On Friday, the EC had recommended to the President, the disqualification of 20 AAP legislators on the grounds of “holding office of profit as Parliamentary Secretaries”. The President even gave his assent to the EC order.

Justice Rekha Palli of the High Court, earlier in the day, said the petition moved by the AAP MLAs had become infructuous as a circular had already been issued by the President to disqualify all 20 MLAs.

The High Court then ruled the “plea is dismissed as withdrawn”.
