A petition has been filed in Delhi HC asking for direction which is to be issued to the Bar Council of India for conducting All India Bar Examination through online mode. Previously 16th August was the stipulated date on which All India Bar Council Examination, 2020 was supposed to take place, but Bar Council of India cancelled the date of examination without providing any further new date.

The petition also stated that those candidates who are holding provisionally enrolled enrolment certificate, must be given a grace period from the beginning of the lockdown till the next date of the examination.

The petition also stated that Bar Council of India has violated basic rights of the candidates under Article 14, 16 and 19(1(g) of the Constitution by not conducting any examination for almost 11 months.

The petitioner has also opposed the policy of Bar Council of India for not giving any benefit through Welfare Fund to the young lawyers. Also the petition has asked for a direction by the Court to the Bar Council of India to provide financial support to those young lawyers who are provisionally enrolled.
