Centre Notifies Appointment of Additional Judges for High Courts of Calcutta and Punjab & Haryana

The Central Government on Wednesday notified appointment of one additional judge to the Calcutta HC and two additional judges to the Punjab and Haryana HC.

Judicial Officer, Ms. Suvra Ghosh, has one been appointed as an additional judge of the Calcutta HC. The notification issued in this respect reads:

 “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Smt. Suvra Ghosh, to be an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court, for a period of two years with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office.”

Further, two judicial officers Lalit Batra and Arun Kumar Tyagi have been appointed as additional judges of the Punjab & Haryana HC. The notification issued in this respect reads:

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (1) Lalit Batra and (2) Arun Kumar Tyagi, to be Additional Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. in that order of seniority, for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”

These appointments have been made pursuant to a SC Collegium resolution passed last month.
