Centre Appoints New Chief Justices In Six High Courts

New Delhi: The appointment of Chief Justices to the High Courts of Uttarakhand, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gauhati was announced by the Centre on Sunday.

It also approved Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, being transferred to the Delhi High Court.

The Law and Justice Ministry announced the appointment of Justice Vipin Sanghi, the acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, a judge in the Telangana High Court, as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.

Justice Amjad Ahtesham Sayed, a Bombay High Court judge, will be appointed Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Justice S S Shinde, a Bombay High Court judge, will be appointed Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court, and Justice Rashmin M Chhaya, a Gujarat High Court judge, will be appointed Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court.

The notification by the Centre follows a recommendation made last month by the Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India N V Ramana.
