Central Bureau of Investigation DSP Ajay Kumar Bassi has now approached the Supreme Court challenging his transfer order, issued by the CBI interim chief Nageshwar Rao on January 11.

He said that his transfer to Andaman  was vitiated by mala fide and would prejudice the probe against former special director Rakesh Asthana.

Further, Bassi has listed in his petition that during the brief period during which Alok Verma returned as CBI Director pursuant to the SC judgment, Bassi had been transferred back to Delhi after he had made a representation for the same on January 9. However, Verma was removed consequent to the decision of the High -powered Committee on January 11.

Bassi was first transferred in October 2018 along with 12 other CBI officials after Rao took over as interim chief. This had come after the Centre divested then CBI director Alok Verma after infighting in the agency.
