In probably first of its kind development , the Bombay High Court has ordered forensic examination of EVMs used in Maharashtra's Parvati Assembly booth number 185 constituency in 2014.

Justice Mridula Bhatkar was hearing an election petition filed by one Congress candidate from Parvati Abhay Chajed, who was lost 2014 Assembly elections against BJP’s Madhuri Misal. Chajed opposed Misal’s victory as he had expected a lot more votes. The questions framed for the FSL Hyderabad include:

What makes this order significant is that the Supreme Court has already issued notice to the Centre as well as the Election Commission on a PIL seeking a paper trail for EVMs to avoid tampering.

Also, last month in Uttarakhand, acting on the plea of losing Congress candidate the Uttarakhand High Court directed the judicial magistrate of Vikasnagar Assembly constituency in Dehradun district to seal and seize the EVMs used there during recent assembly polls. The High Court issued direction on a plea filed by Congress Vikasnagar candidate Navprabhat who challenged the assembly election result alleging that EVMs were rigged.

Later, the High Court ordered seizure of EVMs used in six more Assembly constituencies in the state and issued notice to the Election Commission of India and the State Election Commission.
