A law intern was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her PG accommodation at Malleswaram, Bengaluru, after filing a sexual harassment complaint against lawyers.

In what could apparently be called another #MeToo revelation the victim, identified as Pushpa Archana Lall, had filed a sexual harassment complaint with Commercial street police on November 20 and was found dead on Saturday, November 24.

Pushpa who hails from Andaman & Nicobar Islands had come to Bengaluru in 2017 and enrolled as an intern with Jayanth Pattenshetti Associates.

According to a TOI report, the FIR filed on the complaint of Pushpa states that she was assigned to work with an advocate named Chandra Naik, who introduced her to another advocate named Chetan Desai working as a pleader at the Karnataka HC. She had alleged that both the lawyers “used to take her to pubs and bars and force her to consume alcohol. They would then touch her inappropriately and sexually harass her.”

As per the report, the police said that Pushpa’s PG owner Leelavthi has also lodged a complaint claiming that she had doubts about the cause of death and demanded a probe into the same.
